The Lord God said: “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.” So the Lord God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each of them would be its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air, and all the wild animals; but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man.
So the Lord God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The Lord God then built up into a woman the rib that He had taken from the man. When he brought her to the man, the man said:

Fr. Jaime: Dearly beloved Regie and Lois, you are here today to seal your love with an eternal bond before the Church. I assure you of the prayers of our community that God may pour his abundant blessings on your love, and help you to carry out the duties of the married state.
And you, dear sponsors, may I ask you to help them with your prayers and accept them as a new couple in the Christian community.
SCRUTINY
Fr. Jaime: May I now ask you to answer truthfully the following questions:

Fr. Jaime: The Groom and Bride entered the Church as two separate individuals. In the Sacrament of Marriage, they have now been joined by God as one flesh. May the flame of the Unity Candle remind them of God’s presence in their married life. God alone is the source of light and warmth, wisdom and love, hope and life, now and forever.

Fr. Jaime: Let us pray to the Lord for Regie and Lois who come to God’s altar at the beginning of their married life so that they may always be united in love for each other.
Holy Father, you created humankind in your own image and made man and woman to be joined as husband and wife in union of body and heart and so fulfill their mission in this world.
Father, to reveal the plan of your love, you made the union of husband and wife an image of the covenant between you and your people.
In the fulfillment of this sacrament, the marriage of Christian man and woman is a sign of the marriage between Christ and the Church. Father, stretch out your hand, and bless Regie and Lois.
Lord, grant that as they begin to live this sacrament they may share with each other the gifts of your love and become one in heart and mind as witnesses to your presence in their marriage. Help them to create a home together.

THE RITE OF MARRIAGE
Commentator: Please remain seated for the marriage rites.
Regie and Lois, their parents and all principal sponsors, please stand for the exchange of vows.
Fr. Jaime: Dearly beloved Regie and Lois, you are here today to seal your love with an eternal bond before the Church. I assure you of the prayers of our community that God may pour his abundant blessings on your love, and help you to carry out the duties of the married state.
And you, dear sponsors, may I ask you to help them with your prayers and accept them as a new couple in the Christian community.
SCRUTINY
Fr. Jaime: May I now ask you to answer truthfully the following questions:
Lois, did you come here of your own free will to bind yourself forever in the love and service of your husband?
Lois: Yes, Father.
Fr. Jaime: Regie, did you come here of your own free will to bind yourself forever in the love and service of your wife?

We put ourselves in Your hands as husband and wife, and share the wonderful meaning of this offering, with all who are present.
Fr. Jaime: And I, by the authority of the Church and calling on all those present here as witnesses, confirm and bless the bond of marriage you have contracted in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

BLESSING OF THE ARRHAE AND RINGS
Fr. Jaime: We shall now bless the newly wedded couple’s arrhae and rings which are the symbols of their love and fidelity to one another. Our help is in the name of the Lord.
All: Who made heaven and earth.

Bless Regie and Lois, O Lord, with sufficiency of mate¬rial possessions which these arrhae symbolize so that they may use them to attain eternal life through Christ Our Lord.

Fr. Jaime: Bless, O Lord, these rings so that Regie and Lois who will wear them, may ever live in mutual love and unbroken loyalty, through Christ, Our Lord.

EXCHANGE OF RINGS AND ARRHAE

Regie: Lois, wear this ring as a sign of my love and loyalty, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

LIGHTING OF THE UNITY CANDLE
Commentator: The Groom and Bride will now light the unity candle, symbol of their communion with Christ in their life together.
Fr. Jaime: The Groom and Bride entered the Church as two separate individuals. In the Sacrament of Marriage, they have now been joined by God as one flesh. May the flame of the Unity Candle remind them of God’s presence in their married life. God alone is the source of light and warmth, wisdom and love, hope and life, now and forever.
PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL
Fr. Jaime: Dearly beloved, let us now pray for the Church and for our newly wedded couple which reflects their union with Christ. To every petition our response will be: Lord, hear our prayer.
Reader: For our nation and our holy Church, that through the goodness and integrity of its people, harmony and justice may be secured and lasting peace and prosperity, be achieved; let us pray to the Lord.

Reader: For Regie and Lois now beginning their life together, that they may have divine assistance at every moment, the constant support and companionship of friends, the blessing of healthy children, a warm love reaching out to others and good health until a ripe old age, let us pray to the Lord.

Fr. Jaime: Father, all-powerful and ever living God, we do well always everywhere to give you thanks. You created man in love to share your divine life, we see his high destiny in the love of husband and wife, which bears the imprint of your own divine love. Love is man’s origin, love is his constant calling, love is his fulfillment in heaven. The love of man and woman is made holy in the sacrament of marriage, and becomes the mirror of your everlasting love. Through Christ, the choirs of angels and all the saints praise you and worship your glory. May our voices blend with theirs as we join their unending hymn of praise.
All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Fr. Jaime: Lord, you are holy indeed the fountain of all holiness. Let your spirit come upon these gifts and make them holy so that they may become for us the Body and Blood of our Lord. Jesus Christ. Before He was given up to death, a death He freely accepted, He took bread and gave you thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples and said:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT IT. THIS IS MY BODY WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
When supper was ended He took the cup. Again He gave you thanks and praise. He gave the cup to his disciples and said:
TAKE THIS ALL OF YOU AND DRINK FROM IT. THIS IS THE CUP OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND EVERLASTING COVENANT. IT WILL BE SHED FOR YOU AND FOR ALL, SO THAT SINS MAY BE FORGIVEN. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.
Fr. Jaime: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.
All: Dying you destroyed our death, rising you restored our life. Lord Jesus, come in glory.
Fr. Jaime: In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Father, this life giving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ be brought together in unity of the Holy Spirit. Lord, remember your Church throughout the world. Make us grow in love together with Benedict, our Pope, Gabriel, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember our brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in the hope of rising again. Bring them and all the departed into the light of your presence. Have mercy on us all, especially on Regie and Lois whom you have joined together in the sacrament of matrimony. Make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, with St. Joseph, with the apostles and all the saints who have done your will throughout the ages. May we praise you in union with them and give you glory through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him, with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all glory and honor is yours, almighty Father, forever and ever.

NUPTIAL BLESSING
Fr. Jaime: Let us pray to the Lord for Regie and Lois who come to God’s altar at the beginning of their married life so that they may always be united in love for each other.
Holy Father, you created humankind in your own image and made man and woman to be joined as husband and wife in union of body and heart and so fulfill their mission in this world.
Father, to reveal the plan of your love, you made the union of husband and wife an image of the covenant between you and your people.
In the fulfillment of this sacrament, the marriage of Christian man and woman is a sign of the marriage between Christ and the Church. Father, stretch out your hand, and bless Regie and Lois.
Lord, grant that as they begin to live this sacrament they may share with each other the gifts of your love and become one in heart and mind as witnesses to your presence in their marriage. Help them to create a home together.
Give your blessings to Lois, your daughter, so that she may be a good wife caring for the home, faithful in love for her husband, generous and kind.
Give your blessing to Regie, your son, so that he may be a faithful husband and a good Father.
Father, grant that as they come together to your table on earth, so they may one day have the joy of sharing your feast in heaven.
